If you drive in Virginia, the inspection and emissions landscape just shifted again. Here's the cliff-notes version so you don't have to dig through DMV PDFs.
What's changing: a few northern counties added stricter OBD-II emissions screening, fines for expired stickers ticked up, and there's new language around modified exhaust systems being checked at safety inspection. Hampton Roads itself stayed mostly status quo — safety inspections still required annually — but if you've got modded exhaust or deleted cats, it's worth knowing where the line is.
What to do now: take a quick look at your sticker before it expires (most lapses happen because nobody noticed, not because the car would fail). If you've got a CEL, get it diagnosed before inspection time — most shops will fail an active CEL on an OBD-II screen.
